Eligibility for full membership
Membership is open to individual arbitrators. Legal persons and unincorporated bodies may not join. An applicant for full membership must satisfy at least one of the following requirements.
First, being listed on the panel of arbitrators of an institutional arbitration centre operating in Türkiye or abroad. Being listed as inactive on such a panel does not bar an application.
Second, having served as arbitrator in at least one arbitration.
Foreign nationals may become full members provided they hold the right to reside in Türkiye. Foreign arbitrators who do not meet that condition may be admitted as honorary members.
Honorary membership
Persons who have made a scholarly, professional or institutional contribution to arbitration, as well as members of the higher judiciary, academics, senior public officials and foreign arbitrators, may be elected honorary members by decision of the board. Honorary members may attend the general assembly but may not vote and are not liable for dues. There is no separate application for honorary membership; the election is made directly by the board.
Assessment of applications
Applications are made to the board in writing or by electronic means. The board decides on an application within thirty days at the latest and notifies the applicant of the outcome in writing. An applicant who is admitted is entered in the members register.
An appeal against a refusal may be brought before the general assembly within thirty days of notification. The general assembly decides on the appeal at its first meeting. The association reserves the right to refuse an application for membership.
Dues
The admission fee and the annual membership dues are set by the board. The current amounts will be announced on this page and in the news section following the first general assembly.
Withdrawal from membership
Any member may leave the association by notifying the board in writing or through the e-Devlet portal. Membership ends when the notice of resignation reaches the board. Upon termination the member's registration is deleted; liability for unpaid dues continues.
What membership offers
Members may attend the conferences, seminars and training programmes organised by the association, take part in its certification and mentoring programmes, and serve on working committees and commissions. Where they give their explicit consent, their names, titles and professional information are published in the Arbitrator Directory. Access to the rules, announcements and documents published in the members area is also a right of membership.
